The Service integrates with the following third-party providers. Some of these are located overseas and personal information may be disclosed to them in those jurisdictions (APP 8):

Your data is stored on Amazon Web Services infrastructure in the ap-southeast-2 (Sydney, Australia) region. We use industry-standard security measures including:

The Service uses:
You can withdraw analytics consent at any time by clearing the
hipponics_analytics_consent entry in your browser's site
data; the consent banner will re-prompt you on next visit. Disabling all
cookies will prevent sign-in.
When you upload a photo of a fire incident, the photo's EXIF metadata (GPS coordinates, capture timestamp) is read by your browser to place the photo on the public map. The full original image is stored — please be aware that EXIF metadata embedded in the image (which may include camera serial numbers and precise GPS) is preserved and may be visible to anyone who downloads the image. Strip EXIF before uploading if this is a concern. We do not transmit your photos to any third party other than Amazon S3 for hosting.
If you are a member of a team, you can choose to share your location with the other members of that team. This is the only way your location is sent to us or shown to anyone else.
Team location sharing helps a crew keep track of each other. It is not a safety-of-life tracking system and does not replace radios, agency systems or calling Triple Zero (000) in an emergency.
The Service is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. If you share your location with a team, the members of that team can see it while you share and your trail for 14 days; that is the only sharing of your location, and it happens only when you turn it on. We may share anonymised, aggregated analytics data that cannot identify individual users. We may disclose personal information if required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or the public.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, want to access or correct your personal information, or wish to make a complaint about how we have handled your information, please contact us at:
We will acknowledge your complaint within a reasonable timeframe and respond within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC):
