About Hipponics Firewatch

Last updated

Hipponics Firewatch is a free, independent bushfire map for the whole of Australia. It brings the official incident and warning feeds from all eight state and territory fire services onto one live national map, adds satellite hotspot detections and weather, and sends a push alert when a fire appears near a place you care about. It is not a government service, and it has no ads.

How it differs from the official apps

Each state's fire service runs its own app and map, and those remain the authority for warnings in that state. Hipponics Firewatch does not replace them. It puts them side by side on one national map, adds satellite and weather layers, and lets you watch places in several states at once, which helps near state borders, when travelling, or when family live interstate. Every incident links back to the agency that issued it.

Who makes it

Hipponics Firewatch is built and run independently in Australia by Hipponics. Contact us through the feedback form in the app. Data from NT PFES / Bushfires NT is used with their permission; every other feed is credited to the agency that publishes it.

Not an official emergency service. Hipponics Firewatch aggregates public data from official fire services and satellite feeds. Always follow directions from official emergency services and call 000 in a life-threatening emergency.
