The Perth Hills rise along the Darling Scarp on the city’s eastern edge — jarrah forest and semi-rural blocks that place homes right in the bush. Hipponics Firewatch plots current fires and warnings from DFES across the hills — Mundaring, Kalamunda, Gidgegannup, Chidlow and Mahogany Creek — alongside satellite hotspots and live conditions.
Open the live Perth Hills fire map →The Perth Hills have seen repeated destructive fires. The Parkerville–Stoneville–Mount Helena fire in January 2014 destroyed more than 50 homes, and the Wooroloo fire in February 2021 burned through the hills north-east of Perth and razed around 86 homes. Jarrah forest fuels, the steep Darling Scarp and scattered rural-residential properties on long driveways make leaving early the safest option on severe and extreme days. Hipponics Firewatch is a situational-awareness tool, not a replacement for official warnings.
